At the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan is organized theoretical and practical conference «Turkmenistan the heart of the Great Silk Road: region of white wheat and white gold»devoted to the year «Turkmenistan the heart of the Great Silk Road» and an exhibition.

 

On the 17-th of September 2018, the year, declared «Turkmenistan – the heart of the Great Silk Road», was opened theoretical and practical conference «Turkmenistan the heart of the Great Silk Road: region of white wheat and white gold». In the theoretical and practical conference participated research fellows of the sectoral research institutes of Turkmenistan, teachers and students of institutions of higher education, members of the mass media and others.

Since ancient times this earth is one of the prospering centres of culture of mankind and agriculture as well. The revealing of the first signs of settled agriculture and animal breeding in the Central Asia, northwest from Ashgabat city near Jeytun village, is the important historical event. The finding of grains of white wheat in 1904 on hills of Аnаu as the result of excavation under the guidance of the American scientist R.Pampelli testifies to development of agriculture. Therefore, the Turkmen land is considered to be the region of white wheat.

According to the information of the Arab geographers in the Central Asia, including Merv in the V century B.C. has been developed cotton growing. Various fabrics were produced out of cotton and exported to foreign countries.

At the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan was carried out theoretical and practical conference «Turkmenistan – the heart of the Great Silk Road: region of white wheat and white gold», it was opened by the manager of the State museum candidate of historical science Ovezmukhammet Mammetnurov. Then the floor was given to the heads of division of agricultural research institute of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan Amangeldy Annayev, Kerimnazar Mаmmetgulov, leading research fellow Guljemal Taylakova, executive secretary of «Täze oba» magazine Kakysh Nazarov, deputy editor-in-chief of «Bereketli toprak» newspaper Aynabat Аtayev, senior lecturer of the department of animal breeding of S.A.Nyyazov Turkmen agricultural institute Saparmurat Annamukhammedov, senior research officer of the National «Ak bugdaý» museum Tavus Garadjayeva.

Here are exposed ancient agricultural labour tools, articles of everyday use, archival photos of the historical monuments connected with the Great Silk Road pictured in 30-50-s of the last century and artefacts found there. The exhibition is continued by the modern sorts of cotton and wheat, cotton goods, picture-carpets and photos about the achievements in agriculture.
