Benefit of hard work

According to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan very year on the second Sunday of November in Turkmenistan is celebrated Harvest festival. It is an obvious demonstration that the state attaches great importance to toilers of agriculture. An exhibition devoted to agriculture and a Harvest festival consists of three sections. The first section of the exhibition is devoted to the history of occurrence and development of agriculture in Turkmenistan. Discovery of first signs of settled agriculture in the Central Asia in the northwest of Ashgabat city in ancient settlement of Jeytun, is the important historical event. The artefacts found on ancient agricultural settlements, such as hulling mills, a mortar with pestle, sickles, woman’s figurines as symbols of fertility and object of worship of farmers is possible to see in showcases of the exposition. As the result of excavation under the guidance of American scientific R.Pampelly in 1904 on hills of Аnau have been found the grains of white wheat relating to the fourth millenium B.C. For this reason the Turkmen land is considered to be the Motherland of white wheat. In the showcases is possible to see a valuable exhibit - prints of grains of white wheat on gypsum. In the second section of theexhibition is told about achievements of our country in agriculture for the years of Independence. Photos and works of artists glorify the generosity of the Turkmen land. Special appeal to the exhibition give the carpet pictures, which show gold wheat, fields of «white gold», watermelons, melons and gourds and vegetables and fruits growing in our land. An exhibition is adorned by saddle-bags with sheaves of white wheat and a fine-stapled cotton, and with silkworm cocoons as well. Here are also located works of jewellers. They represent cotton-seed hulls, wheat ears, clusters of grape and other fruits made of semi-precious stones and metal. Further there are shown exhibits, from which has begun the history of development of agriculture in Turkmenistan in 30-s and 40-s of the 20th century. In photos of those years are visible the cotton field, women cotton-pickers, the first tractor, the excited moment of harvesting, selfless labour of rural workers. The Turkmen yurta representing ancient articles of everyday life of the Turkmen people became an adornment of the exhibition. The floor was given to the main specialist of the Ashgabat municipal committee of the Agrarian party of Turkmenistan Serdar Sazakov, postgraduate student of the National institute of Desert, vegetation and animal world of the Ministry of environmental protection of Turkmenistan Gulnar Yarbazova, the I category librarian of the State library of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan, Honoured cultural worker of Turkmenistan Oguljemal Orazdurdyeva, lecturer of the State Academy of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan, Honoured cultural worker of Turkmenistan Azat Annaev, head of produce processing department of S.A.Nyyazov Turkmen Agricultural University Yazgeldi Saryev and senior staff scientist of the Department of Ancient and Medieval history of the institute of History and Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Sahra Yusupova and research officer of «Bereketli Garagum» reserve Abrai Omatov.
