Turkmen people widely and as an important event celebrated for a long time holidays and memorable since long ago. As it is known, each holiday had its own feature and gradually all it has turned into proof tradition. If we say about Turkmen wedding reception in the past, you imagine kejebe at once. Usually, the bride was set in kejebe,which was on a camel that was accompanied by a cavalcade of young horsemen. The caravan consisted of the leading female camel ak-maya with the youngs of camel torym and some more camels of escort. According to the tradition for kejebe was chosen the most beautiful female camel. It was adorned with the best adornments. Among them we can name due bashlyk, due khalyk, asmalyk, bounlyk and due yzlyk. These adornments have been sewed of carpet products or pieces of clothr. On ak-maya was placed the special construction-palankin kejebe, in which there was a bride. The whole caravan was connected by special cords burunlyk. On knees of forelegs were fastened special garters dyzlyk or handbells.
In the era of Revival of a new epoch of the powerful state wedding reception have not lost their traditions and have got new shades. For representation of these ancient traditions at the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan has been opened the exhibition named «Ancient tradition of Turkmen decoration of camels». At the exhibition are shown adornments for a caravan of camels on Turkmen wedding.
The exhibition was opened by the director of the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan Meretgeldi Çaryýew.
Then the floor was given to the executive secretary of the National committee of Turkmenistan for UNESCO affairs, Hero of Turkmenistan Chynar Rustemova, subeditor of “Garagum” magazine, People’s writer of Turkmenistan Dovletgeldi Annamyradov, executive secretary of “Medeniýet we syýahat” magazine Ayjan Saparova, chairman of Artists Union of Turkmenistan Charymyrat Yazmyradow, the main specialist of the department of Creative workers of the Ministry of culture of Turkmenistan Ogulgurban Gaşlakowa, the lecturer of “Hotel business” department of “Tourism” faculty of Turkmen State institute of culture Gulshat Pirjanova, the 1-st degree restorer of the restoration department of the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan (ethnographer) Allanazar Sopyyev.
The guests having acquainted with the exhibition «Ancient tradition of Turkmen decoration of camels», felt themselves as in Turkmen wedding and have noted it in their speeches, as the ancient adornments for camels were demonstrated for the first time.
The exhibition is devoted to the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy.
