From the 12th of February up to the 2nd of March 2024 within the network of the program of the USA «The ambassadorial fund for preservation of cultural heritage» representatives of J. Paul Getty museum of Los Angeles city of the USA have carried out the second working visit to the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan.
If you remember, in January of the last year winners of the project on studying of a fragment of a head of a statue of Buddha declared within the network of the program of the United States of America «The ambassadorial fund for preservation of cultural heritage», representatives of J. Paul Getty museum of Los Angeles city of the USA have arrived with working visit to the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan. Their purpose consisted in photographing in 3D a fragment of a head of a statue of Buddha found in Ancient Merv and concerning the V century, for its further preservation and restoration, and its full research by means of other equipment as well.
The purpose of this visit of the American experts is delivery to the museum of necessary means for the further preservation and restoration of a fragment of a head of a statue of Buddha, the scanner and another equipment for full research of national value, and carrying out of meetings for discussion of these problems and exchange of experience.
The specialists have printed three auxiliary adaptations for support with the help of the 3D printer. In a course of this work fragments of a head of a statue of the Buddha are located into the printed adaptations and are carefully cleaedr of covers and filling agents earlier used at preservation. This careful work work takes a lot of time. After clearing from old filling agents for usual restoration by means of special glue is covered with a thin cover.
After finishing of these works is planned restoration of available fragments of a head of Buddha in 3D and to define missing fragments.
We are sure, that the works carried out during this visit on preservation and restoration of a fragment of a head of a statue of Buddha will be effective and useful for storage of museum values.
