The State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan invites those who wishes to the exhibition named “Generous and fertile Turkmen land”, devoted to the Harvest holiday, which will be held on the 10th of November 2017 at 15:00.

The carrying out of “Kharman holiday” or “Harvest holiday” was practiced by Turkmens from time immemorial. Harvest holiday was carried out after harvesting of grain and other agricultural products in the autumn. This holiday in the past was celebrates in such way. Members of agricultural community, who cultivated the land together (one community was formed byseveral groups consisting of 10-15 men) took some part оf common crop and sold it. Having sold grain, they bought a foodstuffs. They baked bread out of a flour of a new crop. The holiday was carried out in the village or at the cleared kharman. The Harvest holiday was usually carried out in the autumn. Peasants bought goods necessary for it on on shares and invited all the village. The people, who served at the holiday gave the guests porridge cooked of groats of a new crop in wooden dishes. Kharman holiday was an ancient holiday and it was celebrated by all Turkmens who were engaged in agriculture.
At the prosperous epoch of the powerful state the Harvest holiday in is also celebrated at the state level annually on the last Sunday of November. It means that our state pays great attention to the agroi-ndustrial sector. Encouragement of the peasants in honour of the Harvest holiday caused for their work with zeal by the state awards, inspires them on high harvest of grain, “white gold” and other agricultural production, increase of crop capacity. Bright day of generous autumn that finishes by the abundance, marked by inexhaustible joy and boundless pride, harvest holiday is spread all over the parts of native land. Everywhere in our country are carried out celebrations devoted to this holiday.
At the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan was also organized an exhibition “Generous and fertile Turkmen land”, devoted to harvest holiday. Here are exposed works of artists, documentary photos, carpets and carpet products, glorifying rich harvests of crop, cotton and other agricultural products grown in fertile Turkmen land, five saddle bags with cotton adorned with the patterns of five provinces, sheaves, embodying food abundance of Turkmen people, besides it photos of ancient Anau culture and national values, complete set of exhibits from the storehouses, labour tools and historical finds.
